Create Until You Can’t

Create until you can’t anymore. ✨

Image with multiple cross stitch creations

That’s what my grandma did. Her love of cross stitch left us with countless framed pictures, holiday towels, bookmarks, and more. None more precious to me than the one left unfinished. The moment her hands became too tired. In her mind, I know she wanted to. It now serves as a stark reminder to not give up the thing you love while you still have time to enjoy it.

7 years ago today my dear grandma, my partner in so much joy, took her last breath. Coincidentally, it’s also my mom’s birthday. So today, in celebration of these two amazing women, I ask that you take time this winter season to reconnect with the hobbies you love. In the midst of both of them raising kids, working full time, and being the loving wife to amazing men that had to work many evenings and weekends, they both found time to enjoy their passions. So do yourself a favor and make time for yours.

Dust off an instrument, get out your art supplies, open a new notebook, or head to the field with your old equipment.

Acknowledge the parts of you that seem to get forgotten as we move through life. The ones that tend to get set aside once you graduate, as you build a family, or focus on a career. Those passions are necessary to keep us feeling connected to our personal identity, versus the one that seems to be taken on by society. Our current self is built our of our past loves.

Create in a way that does nothing more than help you find happiness.
